Slotting on 2 attachment pieces expands the carrier from 2 to 4 bike capacity. Removing the extension requires pressing on release levers. Access to the 2 bike carrier remains good, it all feels solid. Now onto some testing to validate.
The fitting on a Model 3 is progressing well. There is no increase in length to the rear. There is no metal cutting required.
Current vehicle platform is showing signs of strain, so next generation rack is planned. The design has taken some time. The biggest difference is smallness. The integrated bike rack has now been completed. Pull the handle and the rack deploys and automatically locks into position. Raise arms Place bikes in the craddles, lower handles. Feed through and pull straps. Ready to go
A wide, low rear box offers the same capacity as a roof box (380L, 75Kg). But without range degradation, or difficulties of fixing and access. NB. The boot still opens.
Later in life tall steps can present a barrier, but we don’t want something protruding to the rear, which makes parking harder. And it’s nice if it adds to the aesthetic, or at least blends in.
Arms out ready to load bikes. Tested with 2 bikes and all performing well. Next the lights and numberplate will be integrated improving the appearance when stored.

We have been working to bring the next level of vehicle integrated rack to market.I thought I would share a picture of progress thus far.The final version will offer the potential for 2 bike carrying, with a rack tucked under the rear bumper.More details later.
